Day 2 - Salt Lake City

We left Oregon, traveled through Idaho and into Utah.  Because our first day was so long, we got into Salt Lake City around 4, checked into our hotel and back on the bus.  Ian took those who wanted to go to Temple Square which is downtown.  It's also a huge shopping district.

Sharon, my first cousin who is a member of the LDS church, took us on our private tour!  When Cec and I visited before we didn't get to the Conference Center.  We entered the huge center and were greeted by a wonderful tour guide.  By day he was a judge!  Once a week he volunteers as a tour guide at this magnificent building.  The view from the top is amazing!

The flowers are incredible!

LDS Conference Center.
Completed in 2000, it's believed to be the largest theatre-style auditorium ever built at 1.4 million sq ft!

Main floor.  The organ is massive!

From the balcony, seating capacity 21,200!  No pillars, every seat is unobstructed

After our tour, we had a wonderful dinner at The Lion House!
We were here before and it's a wonderful restaurant.
