The day before we leave!

Pacific Inn near the US Border on Hwy 99
The Atrium is really nice!
Tomorrow we leave on our annual Canada Post Heritage Club spring bus trip.  This year the itinerary is very appealing.  In previous years we stayed at the Pacific Inn in South Surrey the night before as the bus leaves early and they offered us a great deal.  Last year we paid $89 for the nights room and parking for our entire trip.  The hotel changed ownership and this year it's $129 plus $10 a day to park the car.  When you live about five miles away, we'll pass this year.   The bus also picks people up at River Rock in Richmond before they come to South Surrey.

The hotel was run down by the former owner.  It got horrible reviews on Trip Advisor which was well deserved.  The best part of staying at the hotel is the night before we would all get together for dinner.  This year the new owner is doing renovations so the restaurant is closed.  It really needs a lot of work!  I read in the Peace Arch News they were tearing it down.  The owner says he's renovating.  Time will tell who is right.  Even the BC Cat Fanciers stopped booking the hotel!

I set up a group dinner at The Roadhouse Grill which is close by.  It's great to get reacquainted with those we only see once a year.  There are retirees from Alberta and Vancouver Island joining us.  I noticed almost everyone living in the lower mainland who stayed at the Pacific Inn before are not this year.  There are only twelve at our group dinner.   Last year $89 plus tax, this year $260 plus tax!  Thanks to Richard who is getting up to drive us to the hotel.  Cheryl and Dave will return our car to the hotel just before we return in two weeks.

I will post when I can on the road.  It appears all our hotels have free wi-fi which really helps.  You can post from your phone but it's so much easier from a laptop.  My first cousins Nancy and Sharon are joining us this year.  They are staying at the "Fisher Hotel" tonight.  They are so much fun!

One more sleep, let's remember
