Great Saturday

Well, it started out great.  It was a little foggy when we got up but it discipated mid-morning.  We met Carol, Dave, Janice and Jim at Country Meadows Golf Course for a wonderful lunch.  The food never disappoints at Country Meadows but the service was slow.
Outside the restaurant, all decorated for Halloween.
Country Meadows owns the pumpkin patch and when we drove past, it was very busy
After a wonderful open faced prime rib sandwich, we went to vote in the city election.
We went to Sullivan Secondary/Bell Center for the Performing Arts.  Lots of parking and a very busy polling station.  We took our voting cards and they asked for our drivers license.  At the pick up point for the ballot, we were again asked for our driver's licenses.  That was a first time ever they did a double check.  Then they asked for our full name and address including postal code.  They asked Richard and Cec their ages.  There has been an investigation for voter fraud and I'm glad they double checked everyone!

Our ballot was in alphabetic order,  I heard Vancouver mixed the names.  I had a nice list on my phone in alphabetic order and I gave Cec the highlighted list on the book the City sent us.  There were signs everywhere, no cell phones!   I said "my list is on my phone".  The guy said "too bad"!  So I waited for Cec to vote and used the book.

I did not vote for the new mayor or any of the council elected.  This is what democracy is all about.  Doug McCallum our new mayor has promised to get rid of the RCMP a move I am not in favor of.  He has also said he will stop the light rail transit which I think is a great idea.  His other promises are eliminating street parking around the Surrey Hospital and ban marijuana shops in the city.

I did vote for two people elected to the school board, so it wasn't a complete waste of time.

Lots of changes all over the province.  It shows people want a change and many current mayor's did not get re-elected.
