Yesterday was the last performance in Broadway Across Canada's 2018/19 schedule. Come From Away came to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre! It was the Touring Company and they didn't disappoint. I knew the story and have read a lot of about what the wonderful people of Gander, Newfoundland did when 7,000 stranded passengers were diverted to their small town on September 11, 2001.
The performance was awesome! The songs were moving and well done! At the end of the performance, the standing ovation was immediate and lasted for a very long time. It left you with such a good feeling and proud to be Canadian. They took humour and incorporated it into the difficult situation that was a part of history. Carol, Dave, Cec and I all enjoyed this fabulous play! We were walking to the theatre and saw Donna, Susan, Rosa and another friend who were on their way to the theatre also. Donna sent me an email and they loved it as much as we did!
We went downtown by Skytrain. It's a great way to get to Vancouver. However, when we came home, Stadium Station was very crowded. We knew the Rugby Seven Series was playing at B C Place, but found out there was a fire in the tunnel just outside Waterfront Station. Trains were terminating at Stadium Station. Translink did a good job of informing everyone. There was a bus bridge and they were all coming to Stadium Station. It was well organized! We saw lots of dressed up people who were coming home from the rugby game. Luckily we didn't have to wait long for the train and all got seats!
Lexie was showing Snowstorm her new planter. It looks a lot like him. He didn't look to impressed! |
Lexie made the cake and cupcakes. |
The rainbow cake was decorated with Mini Eggs! Very sweet, and the kids loved it. |
