Booked a cruise!

Last November when Lexie got her first high school report card, we were all thrilled.  She got straight A's and straight G's.  The teacher's comments were excellent.  Not every child is capable of getting straight A's, but I told her if she stayed on the honour roll, the "Super G list", continued her good attitude and mom and dad agreed I would take her on a cruise.

She's quite the little traveller and decided we could go to Australia!  We found a six day cruise from Adelaide to Sydney for spring break next March.  It would require three days or more out of school and the quickest flight to Adelaide is 19 1/2 hours!  Mom and dad weren't too keen on her going so far away, missing school and I can't handle the 19 1/2 hour flight!  I broke the news to her and mom and dad booked a cruise to Australia/New Zealand.  We won't go again.  We love both New Zealand and Australia but the flight is just too long.  I'm so glad we did it when we could.

We've now changed our plans to something this summer and much closer to home. I think it's important every Canadian see their country!

Lexie likes Princess Cruises and this itinerary looks great.  It's on the Caribbean Princess in August.  We are back in time for school.  Today we started planning our shore excursions.  After the cruise we are staying in New York for a couple of nights!  It should be an awesome summer vacation for both of us.  Cec doesn't want to come.  We've done this itinerary before and he hates flying.  Three people in a cabin is crowded and a mini-suite is out of my budget.

The first time I took her to the UK, she said "I don't want a history lesson or go through any museums".  That was a few years ago and I'm hoping she forgot.  I've already planned in Quebec City, The Plains of Abraham, and the Quebec Legislature Buildings. In Halifax, the Canadian Museum of Immigration, Citadel, and Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.  If anyone has any other great suggestions please email me.  Apparently she will take Canadian history in Grade 10, so we'll get a head start.

Now I need to read up about the War of 1812!

I've been giving to friends charities who do walks, runs and many other fund raisers for charitable organizations.  Lately, the junk mai...
