Happy New Year!

All the best in 2020!  This pretty well sums up my New Years.

Last night Cheryl hosted her "Let's Not Make a Deal" family dinner.  Unfortunately her episode was postponed.  It was to air on December 30th.  She went ahead with the family dinner and it was lovely.    When they post the date it will air, I will put on my blog.
Tara, Andrew, Ciara and Declan just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Norwegian Bliss.  They saw the Carnival ships that collided and took these pictures!

They said when they disembarked in New Orleans the crew was already repairing the damage!

A quiet day

Georgia, my cousin in Las Vegas reads my blog.  She tells me I should write more about my life.  I would if it was the least bit interesting.  So Georgia, here's my day.  After a healthy breakfast we went for a 2 km walk (1.243 miles for my US relatives that left Canada before we went metric) around the neighbourhood.  We always enjoy our daily walks.  Wayne came over and returned my egg poacher.  Nancy was going to pick up the turkey bones for soup but her day got busy.  It's fine, I froze them Christmas Day.  Nancy loves soup and every attempt I've made at turkey soup has been a failure, so I'm happy to give her the bones.

It's was a cool cloudy day and we drove to our favorite Greek restaurant in Langley for lunch.  After lunch we went to Superstore where I cashed in my lottery winnings and bought some bargains.  I wish they had Grade A turkeys left, but only utility so I passed.  However, I did see the turkey roaster Louise bought a few years ago.   It was just under $90.00 on the Shopping Channel.
Turkey's cooked in this are very moist.  They don't brown like in the oven but it keeps your oven free for keeping things warm.  Superstore is selling them for a lot less than the Shopping Channel.
We are planning on going to Australia for a 12 day New Zealand/Australia cruise in March of 2021.  I read passenger comments on Air Canada's long range 777's.  The plane gets horrible reviews.  Pat told me Stephen complained all the way to Sydney and all the way home.  He's not as tall as Cec.  Apparently the seats are narrower and they shortened legroom in economy.  Premium Economy is $3800.00 per person!  I'm checking out stopovers as I don't want to go Air Canada.

There was nothing much on regular TV last night so I started watching The Kominsky Method on Netflix.  I am enjoying it.  Great actors and good writing.  There are 16 episodes so I've got more binge watching to do.  Not an exciting day, but a quiet one.  Our health is good our house is cozy and we have no complaints!

Harry, Meghan and Archie are spending Christmas on Vancouver Island.  I'm glad they came here and even happier they've been hiking and the people who have seen them, kept it from the press!  I'm glad they were not bothered by the press and they've had some good weather while they were here.  I thought they were at Government House, but it appears they rented this property.  It's gated and secluded with gorgeous views.

Janice started me blogging.  Louise always enjoyed reading it.  Check out her blog as it's always interesting!  Janice's blog

A lovely Boxing Day

We didn't go bargain shopping.  We were invited to Wayne and Chris's for brunch!  They are gracious hosts and live close by.  We were joined with Richard, Brad, Maria, Nik, Christine and Anita.
Chris was born in the UK and said every Christmas she makes Scotch Eggs.  We've never eaten them but thoroughly enjoyed them.  She had homemade chutney and mustard to enhance the flavor!

The Eggs Benedict were delicious!
The potatoes were excellent
Wayne and Chris gave these spices to Nik!
Then if the day wasn't already great, we went home and scratched our Christmas Scratch and Win's given to us from Cheryl and Dave!  I love to BC Lotto app, because if you aren't sure what you won, you scan the ticket, the music plays and it shows your winnings!

In total we won $100.00 and one free ticket.  Cheryl and Dave won $153.00 and three free tickets!  A few years ago Dave's cousin won $22,000 on Christmas day on a scratch ticket his parents put in his Christmas stocking!  He was in Grade 12 and underage so his parents cashed it in for him.  We've always bought them at Christmas as it's always fun to scratch!  We buy lotto tickets sporadically but only buy scratches at Christmas.  When my mom was at Christmas dinner she would put a scratch at everyone's place.  Note to anyone, if you scratch BC Lottery tickets on a white tablecloth the scratch waste will ruin your tablecloth.  I never told my mom but asked everyone to scratch elsewhere in other years.

Let's hope Environment Canada are wrong and it doesn't SNOW tonight!  I need a cruise!

Happy Boxing Day

We had a nice Christmas.   I cooked dinner but only had immediate family.  As my table seats 8, it worked out just fine.  I love cooking a turkey as leftovers are better than the first day.
No plates as I serve buffet style.
Today is Brad and Maria's 27th wedding anniversary.  They don't usually exchange presents but Brad found this sweat shirt and thought Maria would love it!  Isn't he funny!

Merry Christmas

Snowstorm in his Christmas sweater
Snowstorm will be 19 years old in two months.  He was the runt of the litter and doesn't look his age.  He's Cheryl's cat and has been an awesome pet for Lexie to grow up with.  Last week he was diagnosed with Dementia!  He's changed in the last little while but is still lovable.

The Langley Advance Times went to the Langley Postal Elf location and did a wonderful interview.  I know all these volunteers and they enjoy what they do.   Here is their article complete with video.

Calypso

This is Calypso
Calypso is Nancy's cat.  When I was over at her home this week, Calypso sat beside me for a long time.  A very friendly lovely cat.  When Nancy said she loves videos, I played You Tube on my phone for her.  She loved them.  When I got home, I remembered years ago I bought a cat video for our cat Snowflake.  Sure enough I still have it.  Nancy's VCR is still hooked up so Calypso has a Christmas present.  Instead of attacking and licking my phone, she can attack and lick the TV that is much larger.  I hope she enjoys the show.  I know our cat spent a lot of time watching this video.

Fly Over Canada

We've been to Fly Over Canada in the summer, but Pat told me it's awesome at Christmas.  We tried to go last year but I was late in booking tickets for Christmas and the standby line was very long.  This year I ordered the tickets online.  I got a senior and BC resident discount!

The window has a a glare, but the display is awesome!

Yesterday we parked our car at the South Surrey Park and Ride.  We left lots of time to get to town, however, there were 27 people ahead of us in the bus lineup!  The bus came, almost full and he let two people on.  Buses are 15 minutes apart, so we got in the car and drove to Bridgeport Station.  We passed the bus on the freeway that didn't let us on!  It's nice to see so many people use transit.

Canada Place was busy with the Avenue of Trees and Woodward's Windows displays.  It made for a wonderful day.  The line at Fly Over Canada was a five minute wait and we loved the ride.  It flew across Canada and up to the North Pole to Santa's village.  There were lots of children in the theatre and I'm sure they loved it too.

It was a cool but gorgeous sunny day!  Great day for a walk down Granville Mall.

One more sleep, let's remember
