Most Canadians will stay in today and watch the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships! Yesterday, Canada advanced to the finals to play Russia for the Gold Medal. The game starts at 10 AM Pacific Time. We will be watching, drinking our Tim Horton's and feeling proud to be Canadian! I am not a big fan of the National Hockey League. Their salaries are off the wall and it's all about the money.
Junior Hockey is what every child trains for. Lexie is not interested in hockey. Jack isn't either, but Sammy loves the game! Last spring break Catherine registered him in Canuck's hockey school. He loved it and he's hooked. Richard says he does skills training four times a week! The arena they train in is two blocks away from me. I saw him train and for an eight year old, he's awesome!

My friend Margaret's son lives in Winnipeg. His son is about the same age as Sammy. His best friend lives next door. Last winter the two dads removed the fence between the two properties and built a regulation size hockey rink! What a fabulous idea! In the spring, the fence goes back up until the next season.
The Canadian Juniors is the best of the best. Yesterday watching the Bronze game, they showed the crowd of Canadians who travelled overseas to see the tournament. Most of them are families of the players. I'm sure there are a lot of hockey scouts checking the players and making note for the next NFL draft.
