Last Tuesday, we went for our morning walk. All seemed good. Then we did some chores and shopping and decided to go to Ladner for lunch. When we drove down Hwy 99, we couldn't see Burnaby or the north shore mountains! We didn't know the smoke from the Washington state fires was invading our airspace. Tuesday night, I had trouble breathing, and was constantly coughing. I was better Wednesday morning and so was the smoke.
Yesterday was the worst air quality we've had since those horrific fires started: 10+
Our early morning walk was just after eight o'clock and it seemed not too smoky. For the first time, we wore masks, not for COVID because we rarely even meet people, but to filter the air. We stayed in for most of the day with the windows closed.
I worry about everyone with lung problems and hope they are coping all right. It appears we will have this for the weekend so our outside activities are cancelled. I doubt we will even have our morning walk.
My son-in-law has finished his temporary assignment at "Taste" magazine. He wrote articles on wine and scotch. This is his last issue, so if you read the magazine, enjoy! He loved the job and hopefully one day they will have a permanent opening.
It's Discover California Wines release today, so he'll be very busy. I appreciate his texts when he tells me wine we like is going on sale.
Josh, a California Cabernet Sauvignon we really like is on sale until the end of the month. I say it's great wine, Dave says "One of the hottest brands in the USA right now is Josh with their Cabernet Sauvignon being the driver in a bold expressive taste profile that is approachable now. Utilizing Mendocino, Sonoma, Lake Country and Napa fruit, the taste is textbook California Cabernet with black currant, plum, black fruits and some cigar box hints in the finish."
Time to go to the liquor store and stock up.
