When we moved into a townhouse we thought snow removal was included, like gardening, cleaning the gutters and window washing. They clear snow off the road, but not your driveway or the sidewalk in front of the house.
Last year we had a huge dump of snow in February. We had a discussion about heart disease and shoveling snow. My dad had his first heart attack shoveling cement so I know the danger of shoveling heavy substances.
In October, The Shopping Channel had a wonderful "Friday Special", a battery operated snow blower. It was a 48 Volt, 18" cordless snow blower. Regular price $529 but the Friday Special was $300.00! So I ordered it and said "Merry Christmas". Cec was happy I'd ordered it. Not many of my online shopping experiences come with delight from the peanut gallery.
All winter he's been hoping for snow. We finally had some snow. Not huge amounts but enough to see this new toy works and a lot of neighbours came out to see. He managed to do our sidewalk to the house, our driveway, the sidewalk from the front gate to #5 and the most of the driveways at the townhouses on either side of us before the battery needed recharging.
This was before noon. We got more snow but the sidewalks and driveway started melting in the afternoon. More snow is expected, so he will be at it again.
Boys and their toys!
