What's with some people?

I heard from a 50 something friend who received a letter from Dr. Bonnie Henry identifying her as a compromised person.  She has major health problems.  She doesn't talk about them but keeps them and her visits to ER to herself.  She's a very strong person.  Yesterday, she went for her shot.  She was very upset as some of her friends thought it was terrible she was getting the shot!   What makes her so special and why is she jumping the queue?   I know she's lived in fear of getting COVID but continued to work.  She now has her shot and I'm very happy for her.

My cousin who is just two years older than I am had her first shot in January.  Her mom is 101 this year and lives in long term care.  The long term care facility made is possible to get her vaccinated.  I was so happy for her as she would be able to visit her mom again!

Yesterday I went to Costco for senior hours.  Dave had to go to work early so I drove Lexie to school.  I didn't get to Costco until 8:45 AM.  The lineup of "regular" customers was long and they are people under 65 who are allowed in at 9:00 AM.  When I passed by the pharmacy at about 9:10, there was a table with people filling out forms and people with filled forms in a long line.  I asked one lady if she was waiting for the COVID shot.  She said "yes" and although I couldn't see her smile, I'm sure it was huge!  I said "that's fantastic".   I don't know if they made appointments or just showed up, but they were patiently waiting.

If you choose not to get the vaccine, I respect your wishes.  If you get it when you are eligible, I'm thrilled for you.  It's a wonderful feeling to know you are protected from this awful virus.

This is what happens after your second dose:

Happy Boxing Day!

We had a wonderful Christmas.  Getting together with family is what Christmas is about.  My daughter, Cheryl, had the entire family over and...
