The north shore mountains have many mountain rescues year round. They operate with over 50 volunteers 24/7 365 days a year! They've been volunteering to search and rescue stranded, lost and injured hikers during the spring, summer and fall since 1965. During the winter they rescue skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers in horrific snow storms with threats of avalanches. They never charge for their services and rely on donations from the public and have many corporate and service club sponsorships.
The Knowledge Network filmed an excellent series following these volunteers and their rescues called: Search and Rescue North Shore
I saw this video and it made me think this is the equipment the North Shore Rescue could really use. They hike into the mountains going through rivers, snow and some dangerous ravines.
