We had a very quiet Canada Day. The weather is much nicer. Our air conditioner hasn't been turned on in two days and we are opening all the windows and doors. I must say fresh air is really nice. Last night it became very cloudy and I thought it was smoke from the forest fires. We found out in the morning it was marine air and it dissipated by noon. We are back to enjoying an early morning walk every day and the weather shows the horrific hot weather isn't returning anytime soon. It will be between 21C/70F to 25C/77F which will be just right for this time of year. I love the long nights.
The forest fire in Lytton is horrific. My heart aches for all those who had to flee so fast. I cannot imagine the hopelessness and loss they must be feeling right now.
My neighbour with the knee replacement was discharged from hospital one day after surgery! When she called her husband to pick her up from the hospital, he was on the golf course. Even she didn't think she would get out that fast but she's doing very well and with COVID they don't keep you if you are okay to return home.
We went to Safeway to pick up a couple of items. At the checkout there was an older couple in front of us. We weren't in a hurry and I heard her say two cartons of cigarettes. This Safeway keeps them under lock and key where they sell lottery tickets at the other end of the store. The cashier left her register and came back with two cartons. She rang them in. The display shows $165.40 per carton! $330.80 total! I'm glad I never started this expensive habit.
