One positive thing that came out of COVID was seniors shopping hours at Costco. They opened early and I would get there long before it opened and line up. It was always so well organized. They also let in first responders, nurses and anyone else in the health care community. Our Costco in Langley has a pathetic parking lot. It was adequate and then someone decided to add a gas station. It took away many parking spots and most days it's mayhem to find a parking spot. Cec and I were in Langley last week and decided to fill up the car with gas. The lineup was blocking traffic on 64th so the wait would have been over twenty minutes. We just drove away.
Cheryl texted me this sad news:
Special Operating Hours for Members Ages 60 or Older
- Effective November 2, 2020, Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Costco will temporarily implement special operating hours for members who are 60 and older or who have a physical disability.
- Update: Effective August 23, 2021, Senior Operating Hours will end and Costco warehouses will resume regular operating hours.
Now my visits to Costco will be fewer. Costco purchased a huge piece of property in Grandview Corners a few years ago. The city would only grant them a building permit if they paid for a freeway exit off Hwy. 99. They declined and scrapped the warehouse. I will miss the early shopping but it's been awesome while it lasted. Thank you Costco!
