The day has arrived for us to download our B C Vaccine Passport. You can do it two ways; through the Health Gateway or just using the web link. The Health Gateway is cumbersome and not easy to download. However, if you plan on leaving Canada, you should have this on your phone. If you ever lost your medication or needed to speak to a doctor in another country, they have online access to all your tests and medications.
I went online late morning as I heard the vaccine passport was ready to download. I kept trying but the system just wasn't working. We got home at 1:45 PM in time to listen to Dr. Bonnie. She was explaining the entire system.
I tried again to access the passport through the Health Gateway and it loaded quickly. Then I did Cec's again through Health Gateway. A friend was over and she didn't have Health Gateway. I used the web link and it seemed easier and quicker:

When you log on, you get this page if it's busy:
Get your health care card, know your birth date and when you got one of your vaccines. Then you get redirected automatically to another screen where you put in the aforementioned details and this magically appears:
It was very easy and I am relieved when I go to a theatre or restaurant the people I'm sitting with are all vaccinated. I applaud the province for the speed they got this out, the thought they put in it where our personal information is not accessible and the process they have for businesses who don't cooperate.
If you don't live in British Columbia and are planning a visit, bring your proof of vaccination to access restaurants, theatres and sporting events among other venues. You don't need proof to go into a fast food restaurant, food court, hospital or school.
The Surrey Now Leader is reporting surgeries are being cancelled at Surrey Hospital because the ICU is overflowing with unvaccinated people. This is disturbing!
