Afternoon show and dinner!

It's been a long time since we've been to a cinema theatre.  Yesterday we pulled out the passes we have stored since before COVID and felt comfortable to go to an afternoon movie.  Cec loves the shoot em, kill em action thrillers and I like comedy, romance movies and love true stories.   As there is a James Bond coming soon, he caved to my choice.

The Eyes of Tammy Faye was playing and I thought it would be an interesting story.  Back in the 80's I would watch the PTL Club.  Not because I was particularly interested, but there was just a few TV stations, no PVR and the morning news didn't start until 7.  Cec got up at 5 so it was a long morning until I could start work at 8.

I watched Jim and Tammy Faye cry for donations and every week there was another "reason" they were getting thrown off the air because they were broke.  I didn't know they lived in luxury until Jerry Falwell jumped in and took over.   It was the days before social media so I didn't really learn how corrupt it was until the newspapers started reporting it.

The acting was well done and the story was surprising.  I always enjoyed her singing as she was very talented. I don't want to put spoilers on this blog, but when her water broke with the birth of her son, I was very surprised at the situation.  I didn't know Jim Bakker swung both ways.  I didn't know Tammy Faye was an LGBTQ supporter!  Jerry Falwell was not.  She said the difference between a Christian and a Baptist; Christians love everyone no matter who they are.  God made them and you should accept them!

Jessica Chastain on the left, Tammy Faye Bakker on the right.  Jessica was excellent!

After the show we walked across the street to the Old Spaghetti Factory and enjoyed a nice dinner!   They have a wonderful spinach salad and of course the great sourdough bread.  Nice way to spent an afternoon and miss the traffic rush hour!
