Letters to Santa

Our last day to answer letters to Santa so they will be delivered in the Lower Mainland was December 22nd.  Before that date, we took any letters from outside the lower mainland and gave them priority.  We were caught up and by December 22nd, we'd answered every letter received.

There are always letters that arrive after the 22nd and for those letters, we sent out this after Christmas:

They are easy to do as they only require addressing.  Carol brought over some for me to complete and they are all done.  However, our Japanese volunteers could not keep up as they received so many Japanese letters.  When we were caught up in early December, we opened a lot of Japanese mail, sorted it and answered all the "English" ones.  The Japanese letters were sent to the volunteers.  There were so many letters received from Japan, they didn't get them done so Carol and I are helping them out.  We don't read or write in Japanese, but we can address them in English so they will get an answer.

All the envelopes are so easy to read.  Many of the letters we get from Canada have illegible street names, no postal codes and even the names are hard to understand and get right.  We spend time trying to figure them out and looking up postal codes.  The Japanese children take good care in their writing.  The stamps are colourful and we save them for a charity group who benefits from selling them.  We are careful when we open the envelopes as you don't want to damage a stamp!

I hope they enjoy getting these letters from the North Pole!  We couldn't read any of the letters so we have no idea what they want or the messages they sent.  We will be given a count of the Japanese letters and it must be huge because we have a lot of Japanese volunteers!
