Cheryl started piano lessons when she was in Grade 2, I think. I didn't ask her, I organized it and told her it was going to happen.
The after school activities that Lexie has participated in are gymnastics, Sparks, Brownies, soccer and she was in the White Rock Children's Choir. We gave them our piano when Lexie was three and when they moved to Cloverdale they gave it back to us. When Cheryl asked Lexie about taking lessons (asked?) she wasn't interested. Maybe I was wrong in my parenting skills, I'll never know.
Fast forward to 2020. During COVID, Lexie asked her parents for a guitar and learned to play watching You Tube or something else on her laptop, on her own! She asked Cec if he would teach her the piano! So, the lessons started. She is quick to learn and the first lesson was two hours. I picked her up after school and her mom wanted her home for dinner. That's why it stopped at two hours!
Yesterday when I picked her up from school she said: "don't drive me home, I want to see Grandpa"!. That thrills him no end. At the end of the lesson, he packed up our keyboard and we took it to her house. Lexie asked Cec to tune the guitar as she knew it was off but didn't know how to tune it!
She's started both the guitar and piano using her own initiative. I am hoping she has her grandfather's ear for music.
