I first heard the term "thrifting" on a Post Office coach trip. The ladies on the coach were all swapping stories about "thrifting". Pauline, one of the "crafty" ladies, buys all kinds of things at thrift stores and makes beautiful items out of them. My favorite Pauline creation is an apron made out of a man's shirt. They use the donated craft items as prizes for games but I've never been lucky enough to win one of Pauline's aprons. She also makes jewellery that is beautiful. On the coach stops if there was a place to go "thrifting" they would all go together and have a great time. They would come back to the coach and show their "finds" and tell us the incredible prices.
Our Sapphire Sisters group held a thrifting shopping trip and lunch yesterday in Langley. I'm a donator, not a shopper, but I went along for the fun of it. I was surprised at the brand names and good prices in these thrift stores!
Queen Anne sent out a map:
We spent so much time at Talize which wasn't even on our map, we didn't get to Penny Pinchers. It was a lot of fun. It's not my thing, but I loved watching the other women. I'm downsizing and really don't need any more clothes. The books, DVD's and kitchen items were interesting. There were Nespresso machines and some very nice crystal! I have been looking for larger espresso cups because the ones I have are too small for my new Nespresso machine, that I paid full price for.
