Anytime anyone travels out of Canada, I tell them to go to https://travel.gc.ca/ to check the Government of Canada website for the travel advice and advisories. You can also register your trip so should an unexpected event e.g. tornado, earthquake or political uprising, they know you are there and will send you any help or information you require.
