The days are finally getting longer
We made it through the dark afternoons! As of March 4th, the sun won't set before 6pm until November 27th! Clocks go ahead next weekend.
When I watch our neighbours to the south, I shutter when they reject socialism as something horrible. I don't think they understand the concept. If my tax dollars go to a child who needs heart surgery or for a senior to get help at home or a hip operation, I just fine with that. We look after one another.
This was published in Ann Landers column in 2002. I loved Ann Landers, one wise lady.

Andy Baryer
I follow Andy Baryer on Twitter @AndyBaryer. He's a tech guy/do it yourself. He is on "Get Connected" and does tech segments on Global TV. He's personable and very interesting. #mouseinthehouse
Andy has a mouse in his house. He's trying to figure out how he is getting in. He set up a camera on his counter top and he can't find where the little mouse is getting in. It's been going on for days! His posts and pictures are hysterical!
Last night he got more cameras! Let's hope he catches him/her:
Taking this mouse hunt to the next level. Deploying six wireless cameras from

Teen Sextortion
I followed the Amanda Todd sextortion case and it broke my heart what that girl and her mother went through. It took a lot of years, and I believe they found the right man and he's been brought to justice.
The day after the suicide of the hockey player teen happened, I got a phone call from a friend who told me about this suicide. He is a friend of a parent of one of his baseball team mates from last season. They played baseball together. The boy who was the suicide victim was a well rounded, nice boy and a very good athlete. This breaks my heart. Not only for the parents but for all the teens that knew him. He lived in Delta, but played ball in Surrey. He had a lot of friends who are left devastated.
We need to stop these horrible people. Don't post pictures of your kids on social media!
If you don't know the story of Amanda Todd:
VANCOUVER -
The conviction of Aydin Coban for the “sextortion” of British Columbia teenager Amanda Todd has prompted calls from lawyers and advocates for more regulation, resources and education in Canada to protect future victims.
Lianna McDonald, executive director of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, said Todd's case served as a warning, but Canada “failed to act.”
“Looking back, essentially nothing has been done to be proactive and actually address the issues that put kids at risk every day: platforms that allow anonymous adults to interact with our children in unsupervised digital spaces, any time or anywhere,” she said in a statement.
Coban, a Dutch national, was convicted on Saturday of extortion, harassment, communication with a young person to commit a sexual offence and possession and distribution of child pornography in relation to Todd.
She was 15 when she died by suicide in 2012, after years of harassment from 22 social media accounts that Crown attorneys said were controlled by Coban.

12th Anniversary
Twelve years ago I retired from Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers after twenty years. It's hard to believe as the years have flown by and I have loved retirement. Well retirement sort of. After retirement from RBA, I worked for two years, two days a week at Kings Links Golf Course. I wanted to go to Europe for six weeks and golf courses aren't happy with summer vacations. I gave them a year's notice so it was a nice departure.
Then I started working as an outside cruise consultant for Expedia CruiseShip Centers at Morgan Creek. Nice people but it was cruises only and my friend Jeanie worked at Maritime Travel in the mall next to our complex. A full service travel agency, been in business for over 60 years with 115 offices across Canada. I only book for friends and the people I work with are awesome!
I was told when I retired to get a hobby. I have it, travel! Working at Maritime lets me talk about what I love to do and help book people on their trips of a lifetime!
My next cruise is in 9 days 3 hours and 26 minutes! If anyone is waiting for a good deal, good luck. Travel pricing is just like the grocery store, it keeps going up! I booked an economy flight in January for three of us from Vancouver to Los Angeles for spring break. The flight cost was booked through the cruise line as it's cheaper. $748.00 Canadian per person, before seats and baggage costs! I checked today and the same flight is $1,069.27! The cruise price has gone down, but I got the third passenger free so the price I paid for the cruise was better than today's price. Time to start packing!
