Vancouver Weather....

This was Vancouver weather Thursday January 26 to Tuesday January 31!

Yesterday they said we were getting a huge rain storm.  I planned to stay in and get some things done.  However, at noon, the rain stopped and the sun and a beautiful blue sky was visible!  You never know what you get in Vancouver.  A week ago Tuesday we had our snow blower out and yesterday I wore a sweater outside!

Most people don't like the rain.  I love the rain within reason.  When it rains, everything is fresh.  When it rains for days it gets depressing, but I always think:  April showers bring May flowers.  Now it's not April, but we have lots of buds on our bushes so it's coming!

Yesterday was 10C/50F.  Pretty nice for early February!

Political truths

If God wanted us to vote, he would have given us candidates.

~Jay Leno~

The problem with political jokes is they get elected.

~Henry Cate, VII~

We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office

~Aesop~

Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river.

~Nikita Khrushchev~

When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become President; I'm beginning to believe it.

~Clarence Darrow~

Politicians are people who, when they see light at the end of the tunnel, go out and buy some more tunnel.

~John Quinton~

Why pay money to have your family tree traced; go into politics and your opponents will do it for you.

~Author unknown~

Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

~Ronald Reagan~

Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other.

~Oscar Ameringer~

I offer my opponents a bargain: if they will stop telling lies about us, I will stop telling the truth about them.

~Adlai Stevenson, 1952~

A politician is a fellow who will lay down your life for his country.

~ Tex Guinan~

Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city, it might be better to change the locks.

~Doug Larson~

Sadly this last one.

We'd all like to vote for the best man, but he's never a candidate.

How disappointing!

Miss Vyvyanne was scratched today.  Apparently she has a "low grade fever".  It's great she was checked out by a vet early in the day.

We planned on going to the race in Florida.  I'd picked out a cruise and was ready to book when, my inner voice said "no"!   I had no idea why I kept on hearing this voice, but I do listen to my inner voice.  I thought maybe one of us was going to get sick.  Cec and I have had a minor virus but nothing to stop travel.  All the other owners flew down and I felt bad we stayed home with Richard.  Now I'm thrilled and thank my inner voice!  I told Richard when I said I didn't want to go and never gave him a reason there would be more races.  So, in the future, we will go to Florida and see her race.  And of course, get on a cruise because if you are in Miami, why not?

We got to The Derby before we found out about her being scratched.  We had a wonderful lunch and on race #7, I bet on #3.  She came in first!   I always bet to "show" and I won $3.20 on my $2.00 bet.  As you can tell, I'm not a gambler!  Not enough to pay for lunch.

Interesting read

I did not write this - but WOW does it speak to my heart!

Barely the day started and... it's already six in the evening.
Barely arrived on Monday and it's already Friday.
... and the month is already over.
... and the year is almost over.
... and already 40, 50 or 60 years of our lives have passed.
... and we realize that we lost our parents, friends.
and we realize it's too late to go back...
So... Let's try, despite everything, to enjoy the remaining time...
Let's keep looking for activities that we like...
Let's put some color in our grey...
Let's smile at the little things in life that put balm in our hearts.
And despite everything, we must continue to enjoy with serenity this time we have left. Let's try to eliminate the afters...
I'm doing it after...
I'll say after...
I'll think about it after...
We leave everything for later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.
Because what we don't understand is that:
Afterwards, the coffee gets cold...
afterwards, priorities change...
Afterwards, the charm is broken...
afterwards, health passes...
Afterwards, the kids grow up...
Afterwards parents get old...
Afterwards, promises are forgotten...
afterwards, the day becomes the night...
afterwards life ends...
And then it's often too late....
So... Let's leave nothing for later...
Because still waiting see you later, we can lose the best moments,
the best experiences,
best friends,
the best family...
The day is today... The moment is now...
We are no longer at the age where we can afford to postpone what needs to be done right away.
