North West Passage

The Crystal Serenity is sailing the North West Passage for the second time.  The ship left Anchorage/Seward Alaska on August 15th.  It's being escorted by the ice breaker R.R.S. Ernest Shackelton.  This cruise is well above my budget, it starts at $21,855 US per person!   It sells out every year.  Last year, 32 days in the Arctic were packed with icy tundra treks, polar bear sightings, zodiac "wet" landings in harbors virtually untouched by travelers and enriching visits to northern communities eager to share their distinct traditions with the passengers.   I followed a blogger last year who posted daily.  I haven't followed it as closely this year but saw these incredible pictures today from one of the entertainers.  What a great experience!  I just checked the ship webcam and today she's in Nunavut.

I've been to the Nome airport. We stopped to drop off passengers on our way to Kotzebu

It's time for Aunty Acid
