Today is National Seniors Day

I didn't know this until I read an email received this morning from the City of Surrey.  They are offering free activities all week.  Movies, drop in sports activities, golf demonstrations and other fun things.  If you want information go to the City of Surrey website.

Who invented these days?  I would hear about some of them on my drive to work in the morning.  I can't believe almost every day has a special day.  I found a website that gives you all the "National Days".  However, this calendar doesn't show National Seniors Day so perhaps it was certified by our City Council.  If you really want to know the days are coming up in October:

12 - National Gumbo Day
13 - National No Bra Day
23 - National TV Talk Show Day (this falls on Johnny Carson's birthday)
24 - National Bologna Day (who eats this stuff and why does it get a day)
31 - National Knock-Knock Jokes Day (and I thought it was the day to celebrate Halloween)

The only days I like are everyone else's birthday's, Christmas, Easter, and Remembrance Day.  Those have meaning.  I loved National Secretary's Day because I got a free lunch.  I was never a secretary but I think they wanted to increase their female numbers.  I also love Mother's Day.  I figure I deserve that day.  So if you are over 55, enjoy your special day.

I am celebrating National Seniors Day with my Red Hat sisters.
