Dogwood Trees

Dogwood is the official flower of British Columbia.  I've always loved the dogwood!  Cheryl has a gorgeous dogwood tree in the front of her home.  Donna went to VanDusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver and took these beautiful pictures.

Four years ago we had a tree in our back yard blow over in the wind.  I can't say I was upset as I really did't like it.  Because we live in a strata complex, we can't plant a tree without the council approving it.  When the tree blew over, we asked the Landscaping Committee to come over.  They agreed the tree was not able to be replanted and approved a dogwood for our back yard.

We went to Art Knapp's Garden Center and purchased a 4' pink dogwood blossom tree.  The flowers were pale pink and there were quite a few flowers on it.  The next spring, no flowers.  I went back to Art Knapp's and the fellow sold me plant food and told me how much and when to feed my tree.  I faithfully did what he said....two more years, no blooms.  However, this year, the tree has grown to about 12' and I finally,
12' tree and one flower.!  Maybe next year I'll get two flowers!
I will continue to feed, talk to and water this tree.  It looks healthy just a little bare.
