60 years ago

The Second Narrows Bridge collapses!
It was under construction at the time.
On June 18, 1958 we were in Southern California on vacation.  My dad walked by a newstand and this picture was on the front page of the local newspaper.  He yelled "it's our new bridge".  My parents bought the newspaper.

Cec's dad was working at the bridge site!  He was shore side when it fell, thankfully!

Paula lived in East Vancouver close to the PNE.  Her mom heard the crash!

It remains the worst industrial disaster in Vancouver's history.  19 men perished.
