Cats

When Cheryl was about four, I was packing up her baby clothes to give them to charity because we knew we wouldn't be needing them.  She went through my bag and took out some clothes.  She decided to dress up the cat.  The cat had on a shirt and bonnet!  She put the cat in her doll stroller and walked around our cul-de-sac.  The cat let her do it and never attempted to jump out!  Our neighbours loved it, well some of them.

We always had a cat when we lived in a house. Once, Cec brought home a stray from the post office. We tried to find the owner.  Of course we never found the owner but "Diana" found her furever home.  Cheryl called her Diana because we already had "Charles".  We always had our cats spayed and neutered, I thought all cats were automatically done.  One morning we had a choir on our fence of howling cats and we found out Diana was never spayed.  It was obviously too late as Cec captured the "moment" with his camera and yes we still have that picture.  I didn't think Kits Camera would actually print it but they did.

Cheryl was about eight and it was a good time to go to the library and find out about the gestation period of cats. We followed Diana on her pregnancy to motherhood.  Cheryl decided we needed to give the cat a baby shower, and she planned it.  We hand delivered invitations and most of her friends parents thought we were a little weird, but hey no gifts and we'll amuse your kids for the afternoon.  May Walton, Dawn's mother thought it was wonderful!  Cheryl and I made tuna sandwiches, she put milk in saucers (the children had to lick the milk).   We played pin the tail on the cat.  Cheryl made the game!   It was a lot of fun and kids enjoyed it.  Diana went on to have four kittens, we kept the pure white one, Snowball, and found good homes for the others.  Snowflake came along a few years later, after we lost Snowball.

Lexie has continued the love of cats.  Cheryl's cat Snowstorm is now 15 and is a wonderful white cat. She got him from the cat vet in Richmond as a kitten.  He was the runt of the litter.  Cheryl decided he needed a sister so two years ago they rescued Roxy from the Surrey SPCA.

Lexie puts a leash on him and walks him around the house

He's #1

He's ready for Canada Day next year.
That's not dirt in his ear, but this cat has a tattoo ID.

Roxy is a gorgeous cat.
Roxy was about two when they rescued her.  Roxy is not a cat you could dress.  She's a tough girl from the other side of the tracks.  Looks sweet, but look out!  The two cats respect each other.  Snowstorm sleeps under the bed and Roxy does whatever she wants.

Lexie has decided we need a cat.  She's already named him Snowcone.  We are running out of cat names, maybe we'll get one when we stop travelling.
