Cape Breton

We met up with Sean, Samantha and Hettie from Sheffield, UK, and joined them in a private taxi tour of this gorgeous place.  Our driver was excellent.  We left at 8:30 and got back at 2:30!  He drove us on the Cabot Trail, to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum and the little town of Baddeck.

Being a local, he told us many stories and pointed out some interesting places.   Great day, awesome place to visit!

Statue of Mabel and Alexander
Alexander Graham Bell is most famous for his legacy as the inventor of the telephone, the metal detector and countless devices  He is less known for his impact of Disability and Deaf history as the father of Oralism.  Mabel was 16 when they met.  Alexander's mother Eliza was deaf and he did all his inventions for his mother!

This is the view from the statues.  The Bell House is on the island straight ahead and is still inhabited by descendants.
Many Bell's still live in the area.
