Canuck the famous Crow

This is Canuck retrieving a knife from a crime scene!
Canuck is a famous crow who lives in East Vancouver.  I've posted about him on an earlier blog.  He became a media celebrity in 2016 after he stole a knife from a crime scene in Vancouver.  Canuck has made headlines for riding the SkyTrain and working a charity gig at the PNE.  He is known to frequent various East Vancouver McDonald's locations in search of snacks.

Last year, Canuck received more than 300,000 votes to win CBC's online poll to become Metro Vancouver's Unofficial Ambassador.

Last Friday, Canuck didn't return to his usual spot.  His best human friend is Shawn Bergman.  He put out an emotional plea on social media asking for everyone to be on the lookout for his feathery friend. He is offering a $10,000.00 reward for information leading to Canuck's return.  He thinks someone has captured and keeping him. “I want my buddy to come home, and if there is anybody out there who has taken him, please let him go,” he said.

In July, Canuck became a federally-protected bird and has been wearing a numbered band that identifies him as a wild bird and not a pet.  He has a partner crow and recently, Canuck and his partner Cassiar have become parents — with chicks born earlier this spring.  She has been calling out for him and when Sean calls Canuck with his usual bird call, Cassiar responds, looking for her mate!

Bergman says Canuck can be identified by an orange band around one leg and a silver numbered band that researchers use to track bird populations and migration.

Bergman says anyone who spots Canucks can call the 1-800 number on the silver band or email him at canuckandi@gmail.com.

I hope the crow is found soon!   He has his own Facebook page and Twitter account!  Here's a close up just in case he's in your neighbourhood!

E-bikes, theft protection and laws!

This information is from the RCMP.  I never knew there were laws and penalties for e-bikes. WHAT IS AN E-BIKE? An electric bike, or e-bike, ...
