Nexus

Nexus is a program between Canada and United States to expedite border clearance for low risk travellers.  It's a program that's made it so easy for us to enter the US.  We also have GOES which is Global Entry into the US from foreign destinations.   Our Nexus gives us TSA pre check that's saved a lot of time at airport security check points.

Today we went to YVR to update our Nexus cards for facial recognition.  I didn't want to wait until we flew into YVR, but found out you can do it at the airport.  We went to the Nexus counter and on the first attempt the NEXUS agent tried, it didn't work.  He rebooted his system and it worked.  It only took two minutes!  Previously, they used iris scanning and it wasn't easy to get the machine to verify your iris's!  Let's hope facial recognition works better than iris identification.

If you haven't updated your Nexus cards:

All NEXUS members will be prompted to upload their passport upon their first passage at a NEXUS facial verification kiosk for identity verification and storage of the passport photograph. Members who do not have a passport on their first passage cannot be processed by these kiosks and will be referred to an officer for identity verification.
