Yesterday was Ground Hog Day!

Happy Ground Hog Day
It may be nice in other parts of the world, but here in Canada:
Newfoundland, January 19, 2020.  They had to call in the army to help get rid of the snow!

Here in Vancouver we still have flooding.  Most of the roads within the city are back to normal.  However, many people are still stranded at Sasquatch Mountain Resort and the road will not be fixed for another 6 days.  They have no power and are running out of food.  Today some all-terrain vehicles took up medicine and food.  Over 200 today paid $150.00 per person to be helicopter lifted and taken down the mountain.  The owner of the helicopter isn't gouging them, that's what he's paying in fuel and costs to run the helicopters.  When the road is fixed they will return to pick up their cars and belongings.

As it was Super Bowl Sunday yesterday, we went to Bellingham at 2:45 PM to Costco.  The gas pumps were empty and the store was too.  It was a great day to shop.  On our way down the regular border lineup was quite long but they had four Nexus lanes open so we drove right up.  Usual question:  "Are you bringing anything down," "No".  "Where are you going," "Costco".  Today we were asked "When was the last time you were in China", "Never been to China".  "Have you been around any Chinese people or anyone whose visited China", "No".  I guess they are doing what they are asked to do.  We proceeded to Bellingham.  Gas was US$2.53 per gallon.  Cec figures we save about CAD$30.00 each time we fill up.

There was a lot of flooding along I-5 especially at Ferndale.  There is a golf course that had more water than grass!   Cec said, maybe there are rainbow trout on the golf course!  He told me to use a dry fly, chironomidae.  That's the best fly for the Skagit River.  I wasn't about to go back for fishing gear.  In case you wonder what a chironomidae is, I looked it up:

The Chironomidae (informally known as chironomids, nonbiting midges, or lake flies) comprise a family of nematoceran flies with a global distribution. They are closely related to the Ceratopogonidae, Simuliidae, and Thaumaleidae.

Jennifer Lopez was amazing in the half time Super Bowl show!

It's time for Aunty Acid
