Analyzing the numbers

I thought this chart from the British Columbia Health Dept. was interesting.  The virus strains in British Columbia came from Eastern Canada and Europe.  China and Iran wasn't where the most of the cases came from.  Many cases were from Washington state! I'm happy our borders are closed to visitors and travel within Canada is restricted.

On Saturday, Washington state had 453 new cases of Coronavirus and 4 deaths in one day.  Their totals are 22,993 cases and 1,149 deaths.  The population of Washington state is 7.6 million

On Friday, British Columbia had 1 new case and 1 death.  Our totals are 2,632 cases and 267 deaths.  Our population is 5.07 million.   There were no numbers published on Saturday as Dr. Bonnie Henry got her first day off in moths!

Florida reported 4,000 new cases in the last three days.  They opened up their state and the numbers show it wasn't the best move.

Dr. Bonnie Henry has made a huge difference in the mindset of British Columbians.  Even yesterday when so many people protested in downtown Vancouver, everyone they showed on TV was wearing a mask.  They were keeping a distance, not exactly 2 meters, but they weren't shoulder to shoulder.  Let's hope the curve continues to flatten!

I'm happy we are still in Stage 2 and no rush to open up anything else.  I hope they keep our borders closed until Washington state and the other US states have it under control or a vaccine is developed.

Happy Boxing Day!

We had a wonderful Christmas.  Getting together with family is what Christmas is about.  My daughter, Cheryl, had the entire family over and...
