Wonderful Saturday

On Thursday, we planned on meeting my friend Laurie at Swan-e-set Resort for lunch.  She was house sitting for our friends Alix and Jamil in Maple Ridge.  Alix and Jamil have two horses and a donkey!  Laurie loves to "animal sit".  

When we left on Thursday for lunch, my "low tire" light came on.  I stopped at a local gas station to fill it when Cec noticed a screw on my back tire.   We went to Kal Tire and on my way I called Laurie to say we would miss lunch but we'd be there for dinner.   After three hours waiting at Kal Tire, my tire was damaged and they couldn't find the tires we have.  I bought my tires at White Rock Honda and I went there.  Thankfully,  I only had to replace one tire!  By the time they fixed my tire, it was too late for the 5 PM dinner reservation!

Feeling very guilty we missed lunch, we planned on taking Laurie on Monday for lunch to Swan-e-set Bay Country Club.  Yesterday, she called and Alix and Jamil were back in town and invited us to Swan-e-set for dinner!   

We had a wonderful dinner and a great visit.  After we went to their new home/farm.  They had 5 acres in Maple Ridge for thirty years.  Growth in the area was creeping in on them so they sold and bought a nice home on 2.5 acres a little further out.   Her house is lovely.  The kitchen has an island the size of a king size bed!  The house is very open and has a wonderful balcony looking over the yard.  It's very quiet!  They have a barn, a gorgeous garden and lots of pasture for Emily the donkey and the two horses.

We took a side trip to Pitt Lake and were amazed at all the cars and boats!   It's a gorgeous lake and lots of people were enjoying the gorgeous day.

What a wonderful day!  Alix, Laurie and I worked together at Pacific Western Airlines.  We've been friends for a long time.
