We have a new Governor General!

 

This morning Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Mary Simon as our 30th Governor General.  She was born in 1947 in Nunavik.  Ms. Simon is the first Indigenous person to be appointed to this position!  She was a Canadian diplomat and worked for CBC North.  

I'm sure we will hear more about her in the next few days.  What a great choice!
