COVID cruising

 

I've been on this ship and I've never seen it this empty!

If you have been following the chaos in Florida regarding cruising rules, you may know Royal Caribbean was offering free test cruises to frequent cruisers.  Did I enter the lottery?   NO, I sure didn't.  These cruises are free, however you need to fly to Florida to board.  They are sailing with people who may or may not be vaccinated!   

I have been following the other cruises that are sailing with 100% vaccinated passengers and only a handful have tested positive for COVID.  The infected people were immediately removed from the ship and sent home on a private jet.  The cruise line so far is paying for these trips home on private jets!

I heard from an insider yesterday, the Carnival Vista has 26 crew members who have tested positive for COVID.  No information was released about passenger infections.  The ship is sailing from Texas with 70% of the passenger capacity, the most passengers on any cruise ship right now.  Perhaps too many passengers?  The ship was in Belize yesterday.  The mainstream news hasn't got wind of this yet but it will be interesting if the CDC will order any changes.  I wonder what they are doing with the infected crew members?

I love cruising but now is not the time.  I've been following an Ottawa Travel Agent, "Don's Family Vacations" on You Tube.  He was on the Celebrity Edge a few days ago and his turmoil of getting back to Canada was horrific!
