Helen Steffens

January 16, 1924 - January 27, 2022

Cec's dad had two sisters and one brother that came to Canada on December 7, 1926.  Helen was the youngest and was born in Germany when the family was enroute to Canada from Russia.  Her older sister Mary passed away at 94 and the other brother passed away at 100!  

Helen lived most of her married life in Vernon with her husband Bill and two children Debbie and Gary.  She was an absolutely lovely lady with a heart of gold.  She was a wonderful artist and Cec admired all her paintings!  She has two grandchildren and one great grandson.  Her granddaughter, Rayann, is a nurse and lives in the interior.  She posted this on her Facebook page last week:

My beautiful Granny passed away January 27th, 2022 at the age of 98. I’m going to miss her so much. At 9am I asked her if she wanted the doctors to keep treating her or if she was ready to go to Heaven. She said, “I’d like to go to Heaven”.  By 6pm she was on her way. Rest in Paradise Granny. Gone but never forgotten ♥️ 

Her health was very good until last November.  We were going to visit her on our way home from Haida Gwaii but the fires were raging in the Okanagan and the roads were closed.  

She was cremated and the family will have a service when the weather and COVID is better.  Rest in peace, Aunt Helen.
