Post Cruise

I took a COVID test on Saturday when I returned home as we both had an appointment for Sunday morning for our 4th COVID shot.  It was negative.

We cruised with four other friends.  Two of our friends had COVID a couple of months ago and the rest of us were never infected.  We were all triple vaccinated.  On Sunday night, one of our cruise mates texted to say her husband had tested positive on Saturday for COVID and she tested positive on Sunday.  They never had COVID and were not very sick.  On Monday afternoon, Cec said he really didn't feel well.  I took his temperature and it was 39.3!  I'm not all that familiar with Celsius body temperatures but it said at 39.4C go to ER!  We both did COVID tests, his was positive, mine was negative.  I gave him cold cloths and he took aspirins.  I immediately called 811 to report these cases.  Not only did they not take our name or care card numbers, they really didn't care.  She gave me an 800 # if he got really sick!  She also told me not to test!

By Wednesday he was feeling much better.  He had his high temperature for 12 hours.  He also had aches and cold type symptoms. His cold was much better and aches almost gone.  I was exhausted!  I wasn't sure if it was holiday let down so I waited to get a high temperature.  It never came.  On Thursday night I got a bad cold that kept me up most of the night.  Friday morning I tested positive.  I never got aches or a temperature and I can just say it's a bad cold.

The hand out they gave us at our vaccine appointment said there is no live virus in the shot.  I'm pretty sure we picked it up on the ship.  We took all precautions but go it anyway.  I am not sorry I went on the cruise.  I'm hoping this will give us immunity from any further cases.  Neither one of us got very ill so I would assume the vaccines gave us protection from a serious case.  Dr. Bonnie said everyone will get COVID and I'm relieved it's almost over.

The other couple who had COVID two months before the cruise are fine.  They never got infected.

It's Sunday and I feel okay.  I'm quarantining so I don't pass it on to anyone if I am still infected.  I am convinced the vaccine works!
