Day 6 - Happy Canada Day at Sea

At noon the Captain said we were off Graham Island, Haida Gwaii.  We are sailing on very calm seas considering this is the north Pacific.  The sun is trying to peek through the clouds but they aren't rain clouds just marine clouds.  It's quite warm!

This was at the entrance to the Skagway dining room.  Nice way to start out the day.

We attended "Meet the Captain" in the theatre.  The Captain, Chief Engineer and Cruise Director were all in attendance.  They talked about their life and life at sea.  Captain John Smith is from the UK and has the British sense of humour.

They showed a few pictures but this was the best.  He's in the middle.

There are no bridge tours with COVID and even before there were only a few people who got invited.  I've seen the bridge twice, once on a Travel Agent cruise and when we paid big bucks for a suite.  It's very interesting but way over my head!   They asked the Captain if he was in the theatre doing the talk, who is at the controls?  He said "I have an app for that"!  They also asked him how has technology changed over his 40 year career.  He said "we no longer have the plank".  Great answers and I've never heard them before.

After the talk we went to Bingo!  Cards were $29 each and Dabbers $2. I only had to buy two cards as Lexie won one yesterday at Deal or No Deal.  Cec got down to two on the big bucks game and the 18 year old girl at the next table won.  Great to see a young one get $578.  The prizes were better than Royal Caribbean and the cards are cheaper.

After a quick lunch in the dining room we went to Deal or No Deal.  It's so much fun to watch Lexie get excited.  She loves this game!  We won two scratches and another free bingo card.  Free?   It will cost me another $58.  They've got a good marketing person on board.  It really is fun and Princess lost a lot of cash during COVID.  You have your choice of an electronic bingo card or the paper and dabbers.  The paper and dabbers are way more fun.  On the electronic card, if your number it called it just lights up on it's own.  What fun is that?

Trivia and more trivia.  Lots of general knowledge and they make it up themselves.  We haven't won anything but I've seen the prizes and we aren't missing much.

After a delicious dinner at the French Specialty restaurant, we went to see the Production Show!

The show was the best production I've seen on any ship.  The voices were incredible.  Princess formerly did their own entertainment.  They now contract it out to a company in Los Angeles.  Everyone one of these people had amazing voices.  It was so well done and got a standing ovation!

We then went to the Marriage Game that's always hysterical and this one didn't disappoint.  Karaoke was next and it's always fun.  A full day at sea and we really enjoyed it.

Happy Boxing Day!

We had a wonderful Christmas.  Getting together with family is what Christmas is about.  My daughter, Cheryl, had the entire family over and...
