The songs my grandfather taught me - Michael Bublé

In the 1990's, I won tickets on the local radio station to a concert in Burnaby.  It was a fund raiser for music in Burnaby.   The concert was mid-week at the Michael J Fox Theatre.  It featured youth who were "up and coming" and talented.  It was a lovely show.  However, around 10 we were both tired and we got up at 5:30 for work, so we left before the show finished.

On our way out, a young fellow was setting up his CD's to sell in the lobby.  We remembered him as he sang a song from the '40s which was not what we expected when he came on the stage.  His range was excellent and he did a great job.

We went over and said "we loved your music choice tonight".  He said "my grandfather taught me to sing the "oldies" and I really like them".   "Would you like to buy my CD"?  So, of course we bought it and I remember listening to it on the way home.

Somewhere in our crawl space is that CD!  I can't remember if it was done by a company or if he did it himself.  I remember the quality wasn't that good so he probably recorded it locally.  It was full of 1930, 1940 and some 1950 songs.

I didn't see him again until I saw something about him singing at Caroline Mulroney's wedding.   David Foster was there and the rest is history!
