I'm writing this late Monday night because I'm so upset about our last city council meeting before the election that was held today. I read on Twitter, Counsellor Linda Annis did not attend tonight's council meeting. She said "I will boycott tonight's final council meeting of the term, as Doug McCallum, Mayor and his four councillors jam 45 land use applications through. Only 12 days from the election, I cannot watch this sham or lend legitimacy to what is an absolute slap in the face to the people of Surrey".
Sebestian Sajda who is on my list for council candidates was in the audience just tweeted this:
The agendas all have messed up stapling! Not easy to find 79 pages...I found one package where they hit it with the double horizontal staple plus single verticle staple. Seems like all pages are bound.
The agenda has an addendum....up to 48 developments.
Sebastian then continues to tweet everything that happened! I hope the news outlets show what was jammed through and how it was all passed with objections, asks for more time but no, had to all be done tonight. Some with not enough parking, trees being clear cut in areas where they shouldn't be, not enough schools or infrastructure to support the developments and the list goes on! They asked for more time to study some of the developments and that was voted out and EVERYTHING was passed!
It is alleged the developers are paying for all his advertising and payoffs are happening. I said alleged and I hope the allegations are investigated as tonight's fiasco seems to indicate something's fishy!
Doug McCallum's slogan is "Doug gets it done". He does without listening to the citizens, without a business plan or budget. Last election is promised Whalley would have canals like Venice! That didn't get done. Last month he announced a 60,000 seat stadium with no parking! If you checked his election promises, it wasn't there. We think he just "thought" it may be a good idea as others around him looked a little surprised. No budget, no sports teams to support it and no parking!
If Doug McCallum gets re-elected this city is in deep trouble.
