We got up to a very light rain shower, but when we got to the ship, it stopped and when I looked at my phone it said 80F! Wow, it sure changes quickly here. We had a lovely Lyft ride from our hotel to the ship. $54.00 for a 27 minute ride. We got an Lyft XL for legroom and luggage space and ended up in a Ford Explorer! I love Lyft and I'll order XL from now on!
Getting onboard the ship was fast and easy. The medallion app really speeds up the process. We were in Elite Group A, first on the ship. Lexie wanted to go to Gigi's for pizza, so we headed there. We were early enough to get a window table and the pizza there is excellent.
I had permission to post this! Lexie loves Gigi's. We find every cruise we've done, it isn't busy until people find out it's free and the pizza is good. Near the end of the cruise they start lining up!
Sailaway was really nice. The ships horns played "The Love Boat" and everyone cheered. We passed the military ship Iowa. Apparently they have tours. We were too excited to get to the ship. Maybe next time.
Dinner in the dining room was well organized. Then off to the Comedian in the Theatre. We'd never seen him before and he was good. After we went to Strikeout game show. It was a lot of laughs and we weren't even close. They gave away Effy jewellery for prizes! Then off to the piano bar to hear the pianist. Very personable and lovely songs.
For frequent Princess Elite, they no longer put a mini bar in your room. I always trade mine in for a coffee card and that's not allowed either. If you want a mini bar, call room service and tell them what you want. If you want a Princess Patter, you need to ask your room steward.
Great first day, looking forward to the rest of the cruise.
