Day 3 - At Sea

Yesterday was another day at sea.  I like days at sea as they are so relaxing.  There are lots of activities going on.  It was a little rocky, not enough to make you ill, but you had to watch your walking and hold on.  In the morning, the Captain announced a passenger was ill and needed to evacuate to the closest land.  We were close to the Dominican Republic.  On all the other ships I've been on when they take someone off it's a helicopter or a boat. However, he pulled into port!  So we got a nice look at DR.  I've been there but I'm not sure where on the island we were docked as I was at an all-inclusive resort and flew in.  I hope the passenger that was taken off is okay.

The beaches looked really nice with white sand.  The captain came on the overhead speakers and told us we will dock on time tomorrow in Tortola, British Virgin Islands as planned at 7 AM.

This is a 12 day cruise with one formal night.  There are 2 "wear what you want" nights.  That's new to us.  I think many people are not thrilled with formal nights.  I saw one tux, 1/2 the men had jackets and very few women wore cocktail dresses.  We dressed up and I was glad we did.  Cec put away his jacket last night as very few men wear jackets on other nights.  This is a very informal cruise.

Dinner was very good.  We started with a crab cake and enjoyed beef tenderloin for our main course.  There were nice vegetables, more than other cruise lines which I appreciated.  On formal nights before COVID you were always offered lobster.  We rarely had it, but now it's an upcharge of US$19.95.

Captain's welcome and introduction of all the Senior Officers

After dinner we saw the Champagne Waterfall.  Our ship was a rocking so I wanted to see if it would stand the motion.  It did and it was nice.  I've seen videos of the glasses crashing to the flood and they all break.  I'm glad they stayed in tact!

They offered everyone free champagne.  We passed on the free champagne.  After the Welcome Party, we went to the Princess Theatre.  Sweet Soul Music was the show last night.  I saw it on the Crown Princess last month and loved it then and loved it again!  The energy of the ships dancers and the strong voices of the singers was lovely!  Lots of memories in those songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Nice way to end a wonderful sea day!

Starting to plan next year's vacation
