Every year BC publishes the assessments of land across the province. This year, the local paper showed the most expensive home in Surrey. Surprise, owned by Russ Cmolik. In case you don't know, Russ was the No. 2 guy at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. He was an accountant when he started and with Dave Ritchie built the largest Industrial Auction Company in the world. They both lived in Kelowna and moved to South Surrey in the 60's.
Russ bought an oceanfront property a few years ago and built his dream home. It has been shown on Global TV:

He is one of the most generous lovely people I know. Russ paid the cruise fare for half of the 575 people who attended the Ritchie Bros. Reunion Cruise in August. Dave Ritchie paid the other half!
