I am so upset about the tariffs Donald Trump has put on Canada. Canada has come together like I've never seen before. It doesn't matter what your political affiliation is, we are all together in what our Prime Minister said "Buy Canadian whenever possible". "If you can't buy Canadian, buy from one of our allies".
I always buy Canadian produce when available as we have greenhouses that produce vegetables throughout the winter. I went to Costco last week and purchased grapes and mushrooms that weren't from Canada but not from the US. To my surprise, in the produce section, the origin of every produce item was clearly marked on the price sign. Cheryl asked me to pick up strawberries. I never buy them in the winter and they were from Canada! Who knew, we grew strawberries in the winter? I should pay more attention when I shop. This site should help:
I've been going through my cupboards to see the origin of everything I have. I know Hellman's mayonnaise and Heinz ketchup are from the US and I like those brands but when I need to replace them I will check out a Canadian brand. I love Kirkland Pacific Bold coffee. I thought Kirkland was from the US and I've been told the K-cup coffee is from Starbucks! Yikes! I looked at the box and to my surprise, it's roasted and packaged in CANADA!
Grocery shopping may take a little longer, but we are in this together and as much as I love my American friends and relatives, I will no longer buy anything originating in the USA!
