The 51st G7 summit, the 57th annual meeting of the organization G7, will be held from June 16 - 17 in Kananaskis, Alberta. This is the 2nd G7 summit to be held in Kananaskis since 28th G8 summit in 2002.
The leaders have all arrived. What a wonderful welcome the Ukrainian Canadian community gave to President Zelenskyy!
In his first big test at the G7, Prime Minister Mark Carney will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump this morning, according to an official in his office.
The Prime Minister's Office said the two leaders will sit down one-on-one before the main talks with the other leaders officially get underway.
Carney has been keen to ink a deal with Trump on trade and security, and for the U.S. president to drop his punishing tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum and the auto industry.
Let's hope it's a successful summit!
