Happy Father's Day

I thought this was a wonderful advertisement!  

This year we won't see Cheryl, Dave and Lexie on Father's Day.  Cheryl has a sore throat and we aren't going anywhere near her.  She was planning a nice brunch, but we will enjoy it when everyone is well.  

I bought local strawberries from Surrey Farms.  They are grown one KM away from our home.  We purchased them on Friday and they were a real disappointment.  They looked great, but they were not sweet.  We've had them from Surrey Farms before and they've been good so I don't know if it's the weather or ???    If anyone bought sweet local strawberries, please let me know where they are.  These didn't go to waste, I made two fresh strawberry pies!  It was my first attempt at making a fresh strawberry pie and it was delicious!

Shopping is getting easier

I found a wonderful website called: howbsy.com that gives wait times at grocery stores, liquor stores, drug stores and every other commercial establishment.  I've been reading no wait times at Costco and not believing it.  Yesterday, we had lunch at our favorite Greek restaurant in Langley.   They weren't busy when we got there but lots of people were picking up take out. The tables are 2 meters apart and the waitresses are really glad to be back at work.  We overheard our waitress was telling another table she went to Costco and had no wait.

After we had lunch, we drove by the Langley Costco. I've waited over an hour to get in, twice!  I decided it just wasn't worth it and I've been shopping locally.  The parking lot had lots of empty parking stalls!  On a regular day before the virus, at that time of day you would be fortunate if you found an empty spot.  

I didn't need very much, but how nice was it to just "walk" in.  There were two queues, masks and no masks.  Of course had our masks and in we went.  The store was uncrowded and there were no waits at the checkouts!   Everyone was wearing masks.  If you don't have one, they give you one before you enter the warehouse.  When you enter they hand everyone a Lysol wipe.  No wonder they never have any Lysol wipes for sale.

I'm thinking, people were fed up with the long lines and are shopping elsewhere.  I am stocked up and won't need to go for a while but the experience today was surprisingly awesome!

Shopping is more relaxed.  At Save-On Foods in Cloverdale the one way signs are off the floor and they queue lineup is gone.  Shoppers are very good at wearing masks and keeping a safe distance.

I thought I was a regular person????

I used to think I was a regular person, but I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist and responsible for slavery.
 
I am a fiscal and moral conservative, which by today's standards, makes me a fascist because I plan and support myself.
 
I went to High School, worked through college, and have held a job. I am not here because I earned it, but apparently because I was advantaged.
 
I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks, now makes me a homophobe.
 
I am non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class and ally of big business.
 
I am not a Muslim, which now labels me as an infidel and/or islamaphobic.
 
I think and I reason, so I doubt what main stream media tells me, which must make me a reactionary.
 
I am proud of my heritage and our inclusive Canadian culture, making me a xenophobe. I value my safety and that of my family, and I appreciate the police and the legal system, making me a right-wing, cop loving extremist.
 
I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair compensation according to each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.
 
I believe our system guarantees freedom of effort – not freedom of outcome or subsidies which must make me a borderline sociopath.
 
I believe in the defense and protection of Canada for and by all citizens, now making me a militant.
 
I am proud of our flag, what it stands for, and the many who died to let it fly, so I stand and sing our National Anthem, taking me back where I started – I must be a racist.

 
Please help me come to terms with the new me because I'm just not sure who I am anymore!
 
I thank my friends for sticking with me through these abrupt, newfound changes to my thinking! I just can't imagine or understand what's happened to me so quickly!
 
Funny – it all took place over the last 7 or 8 years!
 
If all this nonsense wasn't enough to deal with, now I don't even know which restroom to use, and I gotta go more FREQUENTLY!

Yesterday, it rained all day.  We didn't need to water the garden so there was a plus.  

My husband continues to lose weight and his clothes are falling off.  Not a good sight and time to buy some new ones.  We always buy his clothes in the US as he's tall and hard to fit.  I've been online and wasn't too happy with the prices or quality.

Last Thursday when he was at Pro Bass buying a small boat, he said they had a good sale on men's clothing.  Of course Dawn and I were shopping in the mall and didn't go into the sports store.  So, we went back to Tsawwassen Mills and they were still on sale.  He has no idea what size he is, and luckily I remembered what the last size was so we went down a size and they fit!!!  Not only did they fit, men's cargo shorts were $20.00 Canadian!   I washed them and they washed better than the Dockers we've been buying in the US. 

Now if we only had somewhere to go try to out the new boat!
