Congratulations to our Canadian Junior Hockey Team!

I thoroughly enjoyed the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.  It's an annual event organized for national under 20 ice hockey teams from around the world.  This year it was held in Buffalo, NY which made it very accessible for Canadians in the east to travel to the games.

It's great to see these young hockey players play such great hockey.  In the stands the camera will scan the parents of the players when they do something great on the ice.  Then they will announce which NHL team they have been chosen to move up to!   The game was very close.  Both teams played very well.  At the end when they handed out the medals the captain of the Swedish team took off his silver medal and threw it into the crowd.  Cec thought maybe he gave it to his dad but I think it was just poor sportsmanship.

I am no longer a fan of the NHL.  It's a huge business and the players salaries and ticket prices are ridiculous.

The 2019 World Junior Hockey Championships will be held in British Columbia and co-hosted by Vancouver and Victoria.   It starts on December 26, 2018 with the finals on January 5, 2019.  Ten teams from ten different countries will play 31 games.  Team Canada will play one pre-competition game and four Round Robin games in Vancouver.  Two quarterfinal games will be played in Victoria with the balance of the medal games will be played in Vancouver.  If Team Canada qualifies, they will play all their medal games in Vancouver.
