Happy Friday the 13th.....

In three more weeks we will be in the UK!

I keep getting phone calls from Officer Morrison.  He has a distinct east Indian accent, which is suspicious as his last name is Morrison.  I block his calls but he keeps changing his phone number.  He's from Canada Revenue Agency and tells me I owe them money.  If I don't call him back he's going to arrest me.  I've been waiting but he still hasn't come to get me.  I don't return his calls and he's getting angry.  I wonder how many other people get his calls!  Of course I know he's a scammer.  I'm sorry it's a recording because when it isn't I tell the caller my cell phone battery is almost dead so please call me back on my land line.  Land line number 604 599-0502.  That's the RCMP non-emergency number and it usually stops the calls.

We've stopped watching US news stations.  We find when you want to hear the "real" international news, watch BBC.  As I watched the Thai Cave Rescue, BBC Canada had the most up to date information.  One of the US cable news networks said the rescue had been called off.  We turned on BBC and they said "two hours ago, they entered the cave for a rescue".

Yesterday when Prime Minister Theresa May greeted President Trump at Blenheim Palace it was shown live on BBC Canada.  The Palace is remote so a good location for security.  The Brits put on a wonderful welcome ceremony complete with a band and piper.  There were 150  "commoners" invited to the black tie dinner at the palace.  They dined on Scottish salmon, Hereford beef fillet and strawberries with clotted ice cream.

There were 1,000 demonstrators outside the Palace Gates.  BBC didn't show them on air.
Melania and Theresa look AMAZING, the guys look like penguins.
The commoners and the band!  None of them look impressed.
If I was in the UK yesterday I would have gone to Wetherspoons!  It's a pub chain found all over the UK and they even have a location at Heathrow in terminal 5!  Every Thursday for £6.95 you get a pint of beer (or whatever drink you want) and Chicken Tikka Masala.  Their curries are served with basmati pilau rice and plain or garlic naan bread.  Both flights I took last year were on Wednesdays, so we arrived in time for Curry night at Wetherspoons.  We leave on Wednesday this year, arriving just in time for dinner at Wetherspoons in Southamton!

So many things to celebrate today

Here are today's celebrations.  I am about to drink an espresso, have some cashews and cranberries and go to the SPCA and check out the ...
