Aniela

I am proud to say Aniela is my aunt's great granddaughter.   She lives in Coquitam and is very involved in the community.

Aniela Guzikowski, age 12, is a certified streamkeeper and dedicated salmon enhancement volunteer at Mossom Creek Hatchery.  A concerned environmentalist and ocean lover, Aniela is the voice of a campaign to tackle the dangerous issue of plastic pollution caused by cigarette butt waste.  A confident and capable public speaker, she has given delegations to several city councils challenging them to join the fight against this source of plastic pollution.

Aniela was recently honoured to have been selected as one of 300 young activists from around the world to attend the 2019 Ocean Heroes bootcamp where she gained additional tools and skills to help her in her fight against ocean plastic pollution.

This was posted recently on Facebook by her mom:

Our littlest Streamkeeper is honoured to have been chosen as one of the speakers for TedX Bear Creek Park, February 29, 2020. She has been blessed to be paired with a fantastic coach and another amazing youth activist, Mason. These two incredible kiddos give me such hope for the future and we’re so excited to be sharing this journey with Mason and his lovely family.

A SHIFT IN THINKING

Sometimes it starts as a quiet rumble. Sometimes, it’s as powerful as a lightning strike. Other times, it’s the voice of someone telling you their story, inspiring you with their words to discover, change, and grow. At TEDxBearCreekPark, 15 ideas from the community are coming together, unified by the power of a Shift in Thinking, to inspire and support the growth of ideas in Surrey and the Lower Mainland.

Way to go Aniela, your great grandparents would be so proud of you!

James Mullinger and his visit to Canada!

Every now and again I find a funny video.  This is not crude because the places he mentions are all towns in Canada.  I love British humour ...
