Haro Strait close to Victoria |
When we left Vancouver instead of heading to Seymour Narrows, we turned left and went by Victoria. Len Ruhland told me this was going to happen. Apparently the Royal Princess is too large to navigate Seymour Narrows and goes on the west side of Vancouver Island. I wonder if the Majestic Princess is the same? Seas are a little rough with large swells.
We started our day in the Buffet. They made sure everyone sanitized or washed their hands as they entered. It's all self service. We only went to check it out but Cec started picking up sausages so we stayed for breakfast. The food was okay, selection good, but I much prefer the dining room and we will eat our meals there. Now he knows which sausages to order for breakfast in the dining room.
About 80% of the people on the ship walking around, including us, wear masks. We saw the comedian last night. We enjoyed his show. There is so much room you can get a seat that's got spare seats all around so it's not crowded at all. We found out today there are 3 children on board.
Internet speed is very slow. We did a speed test and download is 0.8 and upload is 6.4 at noon. I cannot access Outlook and Shaw Webmail. They will not send emails. If you need to email me, lfisher385@gmail.com is the best way. What's App has been fantastic. Our shipmates are all using it for text messaging. I called Cheryl at sea on What's app and we had a conversation!
Medallion app. It's very frustrating until you get used to it. First, if you have more than one device in your room, pay for 4 devices. What everyone found if one phone is on the app the other phone is off. You need to switch between devices every time you want to look at something. If you have a plan for each device, it's much easier. I met a passenger that has her hearing aids on an app. Her husband's phone was on the app and she was cut off and couldn't adjust her hearing aids. It takes time to get used to but once you've got the hang of it, I do like it.
We had a wonderful day!
We saw the Naturalist, Robert Raincock, do a presentation on Glaciers and
Geology of Alaska. One interesting thing
he said I’d never heard before is, if it rains on glacier day the glaciers will be
bluer. He also said, he will not go over
the loudspeaker when we are close to the glaciers so we can hear the thunder of
their calving! We had a nice lunch in
the dining room and did a round of trivia with a couple from Ontario.
It was formal night so we opted for the Crown Grill. It never disappoints. Cec had steak and lobster and the rest of us
had an 8 oz tenderloin. We started off
with delicious scallops, a wonderful salad and ended with key lime pie! The entertainment was excellent again
tonight. The performer in the theatre was Jesse Kazemek
who did a wonderful Beatles tribute. It
ended with everyone swaying with their flashlights on their phones. I forgot what a good time you can have on
a cruise ship! It’s been a long two and
a half years and we are really enjoying this cruise.
