Day 3 - Juneau

Two seaplanes going to Mendenhall Glacier
We went to hear the Naturalist in the morning who did a wonderful presentation Giants of the Deep:  Whales of Alaska.  He is very informative and an excellent presenter.  Because of the high seas, we were an hour late getting into Juneau.  The sun actually came out for a few minutes.  There were lots of clouds, a few light rain showers, temperature 47F and a nice cool wind.  It was very refreshing and if you were dressed warm, wonderful clean air.

We went for a long walk in Juneau and checked out the stores.  They are happy to see tourists again.  The Mt. Roberts Tram is not operating but will start up again tomorrow.  It wouldn't be the best day to go to the top of the mountain as you wouldn't see much because of the clouds.  It's best to go up on a clear sunny day.  We've been up Mt, Roberts on a clear day and the views are awesome.  There are lots of nice trails and displays.

Last night was prime rib night.  I have a picture of my dinner but it won't load as the internet is so slow.  I would post more pictures, but it's too frustrating.  Princess always had prime rib on day one but they've changed the menu.  It was delicious!  So far no crab or lobster in the main dining room but I'll let you know when and if that's offered.

The Princess Theatre featured the pianist Korry Simon from Crooners Bar.  He is a classically trained pianist with a beautiful voice.  He started with the classics, moved on to Jerry Lee Lewis, Elton John, Billy Joel and many other great pianists.  I forgot how wonderful live shows are after two years of sitting at home.  Another excellent night with a socially distanced theatre.

We departed at 9:30 PM for a 6 AM arrival in Skagway!
